It will only be a few more weeks until your kids head off to college, where they will be setting up house in their living space, be it a dorm room, loft, frat house or apartment. Of course, if they are like I was in college, they will have way to much stuff to fit into their new, smaller living space. When I was away at college, I had enough stuff for two people yet I had to cram all of into half of a dorm room.
Fortunately since those days of overstuffed dresser drawers and using wobbly milk crates for storage, manufacturers have come up with all sorts of products to help your kids use their small space more effectively without feeling like they have to put 10lbs of potatoes in a 5lb sack. Below are some of the products I wish I had back in the day:
The $15 Closet Doubler is a great way to increase the usable space in a closet.
These Adjustable Bed Risers for $18 will give your bed and additional 3, 5, or 8 inches or storage space for shoes, books, and plenty more.
The $14 PVC Corner Laundry Hamper tucks nicely away in the corner.
The Over the Door Hooks for $17 gives 10 additional hooks to store jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts and more and the Over the Door Shelf Rack for $20 gives them 2 more shelves to place books or towels.
Finally, the $25 Black Storage Cubes (pictured) will fit in nicely in any decor and give a lot of storage space for books, cd’s, magazines and plenty more.
