My dad had been sick and in the hospital with pneumonia in January. The found out the valve or whatever that opens and closes when you breathe or swallow wasnt working. He had lost tons of weight and was skin and bones. We found out everything he was eating was going in his lungs. That explains the coughing while eating.

They put in a feeding tube and now he gets liquid nutrition. He still had pneumonia again last month but it cleared up. He is finaly gaining some weight but has a long way to go. He was pretty depressed too but is coming around.

We moved mom and dad into an assisted living place in february so we don't have to worry as much about them. Now we have to work on selling their house and vehicles and my dad's tools.

So I have been pretty busy running over to them, which is about 45 miles away. So in case anyone was wondering why I hadn't been around that was it, between going there and working.

I did get to go on a business trip to Vegas though in there. I will make another post on that!

Connie.....Glad things are slowly improving with your dad's health and that the two of them are hopefully settling in at their apartment in the assisted living facility. Transitions in life are difficult for everyone involved. I remember "clearing out" my parents home when my mother had to go to a nursing home and how hard it was for both she and the family. Hugs.

Lots of work for you too. Good luck with selling their house. How is the real estate market there? It varies, I guess, from place to place. We are still in pretty good shape here in our area compared to many parts of the country but it still seems to be a buyers market when you try to sell.

Glad you posted an update, have been thinking of both your mom & dad and keeping them in my prayers.
I'm thinking you dad has a Birthday here real soon! Hope he keeps gaining weight... thinking some birthday cake would help with that!

Good luck with the sale/action. Hope it dose not get to stressful for you, make that brother of yours do most of the work *grin*.

Wish dad could have some birthday cake, all he can have is his liquid food through his tube. Not fun at all!
Not sure how the real estate market is here, haven't had time to notice or pay attention!
